Last week I posted about porting my domains over to Google Domains. Well this week I discovered that the dns server options in Google Domains supports Dynamic DNS for free. I was really excited about this. I had thought about trying out a dynamic dns service but hadn't really researched them at all.
I was also able to setup my tomato based router to automatically update my dynamic dns host name via the router when my IP changes. This will make it easier for me to VPN into home when I am out and about to get stuff on my home network. My next project is going to be to configure my tomato router to be a VPN server.
I've also been researching amazon web services. I think i'm going to signup for the free year trial of AWS to play around with various technologies like Spring, Node.js, Django, or Ruby on Rails.
